Sensors

Cost: 1 Character Point

The Sensors Attribute (most often taken on Mecha or Items of Power), allows a character to perceive data through such devices. There are two kinds of Sensors: Standard and Analytical. Each Sensor type reveals different information to the character using the sensors and may be purchased separately. Each level of "Sensors" of a given type gives the character a +1 bonus to their Computers roll in order to read the Sensors.

All Sensors operate out to Short Sensor Range. They function like any other perception, suffering a 3 point penalty per Range Increment beyond their operable range. Thus, the operator would have a 3 point penalty to detect something at Medium Sensor Range and a 6 point penalty to detect something at Long Sensor Range (and thus, maximum strength sensors negate the Long Sensor Range penalty).

Standard Sensors

Standard Sensors are sensors like RADAR, SONAR, or DRADIS. They give information about the size/position of all objects in range, as well as information about where/how swiftly they are moving. Standard Sensors are sufficient to identify a vessel if it is advertising its identity (through IFF codes, hull markings, transponders, etc.).

Analytical Sensors

Analytical Sensors reveal detailed information about a specific target. They can reveal if there are life signs on the ship, what sorts of weapon systems the ship might possess or the power state of their engines. Analytical Sensors can give much more detailed information about a target, once that target has been discovered.

Level Description
Level 1 The character receives a +1 bonus to their Computers roll to use the Sensors

Level 3 The character receives a +3 bonus to their Computers roll to use the Sensors
Level 4 The character receives a +4 bonus to their Computers roll to use the Sensors
Level 5 The character receives a +5 bonus to their Computers roll to use the Sensors
Level 6 The character receives a +6 bonus to their Computers roll to use the Sensors
