Martial Arts

Cost: 2 Points

Different settings use different sets of Martial Arts and different storytellers use different rules for those Martial Arts. The settings for which we have created Martial Arts so far are below:

Aron's Martial Arts Rules

Martial Arts have multiple levels and requirements. A character must meet the requirements in order to purchase a level of a Martial Art and must have all of the prior levels before purchasing an advanced level.

A Martial Art provides benefits and drawbacks. A character may only employ 1 Martial Art at a time, gaining the drawbacks and benefits of the Art. Unless the character has an attribute that allows otherwise, a character must determine which Martial Art they are using at the beginning of their turn and may not change that Martial Art until the beginning of their next turn.

Jason's Martial Arts Rules

Martial Arts have multiple levels and requirements. A character must meet the requirements in order to purchase a level of a Martial Art. As determined by the Storyteller, the characters are limited to knowing only a certain number of Martial Arts (which will typically be increased over the course of the game).

A Martial Art gives a character access to a list of Stances and, at higher levels, provides constant benefits. A Stance has both benefits and drawbacks. A character may only employ 1 Stance at a time, gaining the drawbacks and benefits of that Stance. Any constant benefits that the character has gained from their Martial Arts always apply, regardless of what Stance (if any) the character is using.

Unless the character has an attribute that allows otherwise, a character must determine which Stance they are using at the beginning of their turn and may not change that Stance until the beginning of their next turn.
